Drag Racing season is getting close. We will kick off the new season Oct. 5th with Bracket and Pro Bracket racing. You had better be getting you act together.

It is a good idea to call during the summer, as we change some of the racing schedules as the turnout dictates.

Check out the Calendar page for race schedules.

Don't forget the place is available for your party. It can be anything you want, a birthday, corprate team building or a bunch of friends that want to race just to prove their manhood. Even if the girls usually win.

Please support the vendors that support you!

 THE UNCLE FESTER REPORT

We have taken a few days off. It makes it hard for all of you to know when we will be open and we regret that. But everyone needs a little time to recharge. It has been slow during the nice summer weather and it gets a little boring sitting at the track waiting for someone to come in. Rob has been trying to get caught up on some of his house hold chores before returning to his regular job. I have done a little camping and four wheeling and have had a great time. I feel bad to take time off and then I have to think “hey, what happen to retirement?”.  So we are rapidly approaching the end of summer and getting ready for a new season of slot car racing. I hope to step up our drag race program and Rob and the boys have some fresh ideas on how to spice up our race program. So I hope you are ready for a busy winter of racing!

August 13th

Here we are in the middle of August and it has been a great summer. We ran the Flats and they were a great success. The week to week race turnout has been lighter then the winter crowds but this is the case with all indoor activities in the northwest. We have been trying some new things for the summer and they have been well accepted. Our IROC 1/32 race last week had a dozen racers and was a blast. Tonight we run our group F Wing Cars and tomorrow is the first race of our LMP 12 series.

On a personal level this summer has been great. We are providing day care for our new grand daughter four days a week and I must say it is one the greatest experiences of my life. I can’t wait for her to get here every morning. Well she gets here a couple of hours before my morning starts, but you know what I mean. I have been doing some four wheeling and a little camping. I wish I had time for a lot more, but life is full right now and that is a good thing. I have been trying to be good to the wife because you all know how good she is to me. She accepts all the time and effort that the track takes and helps me when ever and where ever she can. So this year she got her new car (a Cube, that is suppose to appeal to no one over 19 according to the automotive press) and this week new paint and carpet for the living and dinning rooms. See you don’t have any idea how much this slot car shop is costing me.

I love the summer weather but I can't wait to get back to our winter racing. We are working on some rules to make racing better and put us in a position to race with others from around the country. We need your input, so come in and take the time to discuss our ideas and see what they mean to you and your race program.

August 21 is a cash race for you drag racers at the Bad Monkey in Vancouver. Sounds like a lot of fun. Check them out.  We are going to Idaho in October on a charter bus for three days. You know you can’t miss this. We are taking names for teams for next months six hour enduro. This will be a great party with some good racing. Our plate is full but we all love it.

Come and for a little competition and a lot of bench racing. It is all in fun.

Uncle Fester loves you!

Thursday July 29th

Well it is about seven pm and I am about to close up shop. I have not had one customer tonight. I can’t blame them it is a gorgeous night out there. I painted a couple of Red Fox LMP cars for the new LMP 12 class. Now I have to pick a chassis and get the parts for the motor. Then I hope to give those parts to Bob Everett to build one of the killers, like the one he did for my wing car. We have had a lot of interest in the four race series and I can’t wait. We are just going to screw around this weekend and do a little test and tune. Maybe we can even get a few cars built. We have to work on our IROC cars for next week and work on the rules for the enduro coming up.  I have to work in a trip over the Naches trail on Saturday morning and still get some cars build in the evening at the shop. Sounds like a perfect weekend. Come out and we can BS and watch a little racing on the TVs. Might even manage to do a little racing if the urge strikes us.

Rob should be in Nevada about now.  I hope he doesn’t lose the deed to the ranch. But yet, I hope he has a little fun.

Their still no word on the channel 5 report. It should happen soon.

Life is short, pull the trigger!

Monday July 26th

I had a great weekend of camping. I spent most of the time either playing with my dog or my grand daughter. Now it doesn't get any better then that. Now it is time for some racing. Check out the new calendar page. We have some new ideas that we hope you will all enjoy. We will supply the cars and the food in the no car needes races. Just arrive and drive. It should be fun for all. Bring a new person who doesn't normally race with us. The LMP 12 series should be fast and challenging. Something new for you to try you skills at. We will also be having an enduro race. We want to get together with a bunch of you and get your ideas on what you would like to see. Summer doesn't need to spell the end of the slot car season. Let's just make it a little more user friendly, so you can enjoy you summer and racing both.

It was a hell of a weekend. We had a great group of people here for the Flats. We started on Friday night with some wing car racing finally getting out of here about one am. Then we came back at about 9:30 on Saturday morning finishing up at around 3 am then doing it again from about nine until one am Sunday. To say the least we were all a little ragged around the edges.

It was the kind of weekend that makes you ready to do it all again. We are working on some special summer events that we will start posting about right away. We will be posting a calendar as soon as we figure out the best way to do it.

A couple of hints are. No car needed (we supply the car and they race IROC style), an enduro (still working on details), a Wing Fest with Bar-B-Q, Friday LMP and group 10, a special LMP 12 series, a Cash bash drag race and a few supprises.

We will do our best to make the rest of your summer fun.

Well it has been a year since we began on this great adventure. We were reminded of this when it was time to renew our lease. You will be glad to know we signed up for another year and are committed or should we be committed? It has been quite a ride. The changes have been many and we are still working on more of them. It is gratifying to see what has been accomplished by a group of old farts that just want to race toy cars and laugh with, and might add at, friends. It has been more rewarding then we ever hoped for. It has also been a lot more work and money then we expected. But we all know that is always the case.

We have finished our first race series and consider it a success. We will be having our first major racing event (Flat Track Worlds) within the next couple of weeks and the planning and preparation are going extremely well. None of this would be possible without all the support we have had from our racers, customers and suppliers, not to mention friends and family. What a great experience and it only promises to get better. So with the continued help of all our extended slot car family and a little luck, we will continue to work at building a fun place to spend our spare time with a great group of like minded people.

Last week kinda

I am primarily a drag racer and always have been. I enjoy slot car road racing, but I love the building of the drag cars and the whole process involved in racing them. So I am going to start putting more of my energies into stimulating our drag race program.

We will be working on a plan for a major race around the first of October. We are thinking of a cash bash with a guaranteed purse of say $400. This would be a bracket race for $200 to win, $100 runner-up, $50 for the semis. We should be able to get some door prizes with winner plaques and participant stickers. How about party after the race? That’s the ticket, let’s have some fun.

What do you guys think of a Pro Extreme class? We need to workout the details, but I am thinking of a couple of classifications for Pro Mod type cars. Let’s have two, say a light weight class with a S-16-D and a Hardbody class with G-20 motors. We can work out the details. But run them like a quick 8 class with qualifying and then bracket race them. I am thinking of a 100% payout to the winner and stickers for TQ and Concours.

Come on in and let’s figure out some new ways of making the racing more exciting.
