It has been a while
since I have updated our news page. It just seems that there is never enough
time to do it all. The business is doing way beyond our expectations. With the
online sales growing weekly and several parties scheduled each month. We make new
friends almost daily and just can not tell you how much we enjoy this ever
expanding family of racers.
The drag race program
is going strong with over sixty cars entered on most Tuesday nights. We have
several new racers getting started with us and the future looks bright. We
loose some of the drag race group during the summer months to the one to one
cars but we will continue throughout the summer and hit it hard again next
fall. Our goal is to get some heads up class racing going next season. We are re-evaluating our Saturday program and may reduce it back to one Saturday a month.
We will see how it goes this month.
Our kid’s program
continues strong with around twenty entries each Wednesday. This has to be the
most fun night of the week. It is great to watch these kids ability grow and
you just know it will not be long until the old timers are watching those ten
year olds blow by. If you know a kid you would like to share this hobby with,
bring them by and we will get them started. We will loan you a car the first
night to see how much they like it. Chances are you will hear from them on a
regular basis to bring them back. These kids are the future of our hobby and
bring a real excitement to the shop.
Friday night is
NASCAR night and the fastest grow group of racers we have. This is just hard,
show no mercy, fast racing. It is just plan old fun. We compete with comparatively
inexpensive equipment and it is about finishing, as much as, being fast. We
have initiated novice and expert classes to give the new racer a place to get
started, with room to grow, as they gain experience. With over twenty racers showing up on Friday
night this is a recipe for fun and excitement. You can buy a basic car for
around $60 and with a little effort to make it live, you are ready to race. You
have to check this out.
We are thinking of starting our Saturday programs a little
later, so we have time for birthday parties earlier in the day. This would
allow us to schedule more parties on the day most in demand. We will still be
doing our drag, scale and wing programs on there respective weeks. We would
like to get a new comers program started for say Group F wing cars and 1/32 GTP
cars as these are fairly inexpensive way to move up into faster classes
We will present some builder’s
classes starting in the next week or so. Gary Johnson has prepared several
classes and we will be contacting him in the next couple of days to set up a
new schedule. Watch for this as it should be a great opportunity to advance
your racing program by learning from the pros.
With the loss of Rob
we are forced to regroup and make some new plans on how we are going to
progress. Trust that we will not let the dream die. We are taking advantage of
some offers from our friends to help us with some of our programs. We will be
looking to Kevin Kosir to take the rains of our scale program. If you are
interested in helping let us know. We need some people who can promote a class,
prep the track as needed, tech the cars, post results and in some cases compile
the points. You will need a little computer savvy, a little knowledge of the
class and some time and commitment. These are the things that we just can’t
seem to find enough time to do. We have the drag program, NASCAR, kid’s races
and wing cars that could us a little help. We will be here to show you the
system, but a little help would go a long way.
We have every
intention of making this the best slot car shop period. We really feel we are
all in this together and know we can do it with your support. Just do what you
can. Whether that is adopt a race program, introduce a friend or just come race
with us once a month or so, it will be appreciated.
As we have seen, “Life is short, pull the
trigger’’
You know I love you all!
